Manufacturing Engineering Intern (6-8 Months, Fall 2025+Spring 2026)

Tesla is seeking manufacturing interns to start around August or September 2025 and continue through the Winter/Spring term (ending approximately May 2026), for a total of 6-8 months. Most internships are full-time and on-site. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program, so for these particular openings, we are seeking those with a graduation date no earlier than March 2026. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships. 

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team 

The Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for Tesla’s manufacturing processes, designing equipment to be used in production lines, and helping to troubleshoot manufacturing issues to affect production and delivery targets. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams responsible for designing and producing exciting new technologies. The Manufacturing Engineering intern will be work on sustaining, improving, designing, and/or sourcing tooling and equipment. This role utilizes hands-on involvement on the manufacturing line and emphasizes analytical abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail.

 Multiple Locations Possible: Austin, TX; Buffalo, NY; Fremont, CA; Lathrop, CA; Sparks, NV 

What You’ll Do

  • Support control plans to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production process
  • Support Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures
  • Organize and analyze data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities
  • Manage projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors
  • Develop and validate processes used in manufacturing
  • Develop and implement system support process and documentation
  • Support issue resolution for production and assembly including root cause investigation and corrective action tracking

What You’ll Bring

  • Ability to intern for a 6-8 month period beginning in Fall 2025 and concluding in Spring 2026. Extensions through Summer 2026 may be available.
  • Currently working towards an academic degree in a relevant engineering program, with a graduation date of March 2026 or later.
  • You must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience is a must.
  • Professional and positive communication skills.
  • Previous internship and/or project experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
