Editorial Intern

FāVS News, a Spokane-area religion news publication, is hiring a paid editorial intern for fall 2025, offering journalism students hands-on experience in religion reporting and digital media.

The remote position pays $16.66 per hour for approximately 12 hours of work per week, with scheduling flexibility to accommodate academic commitments. Interns will cover local religious and interfaith communities through calendar management, news briefs and feature stories.

Primary responsibilities include monitoring community events, writing 2-3 weekly news briefs of 300-400 words, and producing one 600-800 word feature story weekly. The role also includes professional development through weekly supervisor meetings and journalism-skills training.

Candidates should be studying journalism, communications or related fields, or be recent graduates. The position requires strong writing skills, preferably with AP style experience, and genuine interest in religion reporting and community journalism.

The intern will work closely with editorial staff to produce coverage of local faith communities.

Applications require a cover letter and resume submitted to tracysimmons@favs.news by July 31. Regular video conferences with editorial staff are required despite the remote format.

The internship runs through the fall 2025 semester and emphasizes building source relationships within local religious communities while developing core journalism skills.
