Collections Technician - Library - UNI Museum

The Library is seeking a Collections Technician in the UNI Museum. This position supports the daily operations of the UNI Museum by assisting with the physical and digital care of its permanent collection. The position plays a key role in helping museum staff organize and preserve artifacts, respond to research and exhibition needs, and enhance access to the collection for both internal and public use.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in museum collections management and learn industry standards for collections care, documentation, and database use.
Students will gain competencies in the following areas through this experience:
- Gain practical experience with collections management systems, digital scanning equipment, and digital file management, all of which are essential in museum and archival careers.
- Apply judgment when rehousing objects, interpreting handwritten or outdated records, or identifying discrepancies between digital and physical collections.
- Develop written communication skills through accurate cataloging and database entry. Build verbal communication skills when collaborating with other student workers or presenting project updates to museum staff and stakeholders.
Number of Openings: 1
Hourly Wage Rate: $11.00
Hours Per Week: 8 to 10
Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday hours
Job Duration: Academic year only (Fall & Spring Semesters)
Preferred start date: August 25, 2025
