Mission Statement: The Denver Rescue Mission is changing lives in the name of Christ by meeting people at their physical and spiritual points of need, with the goal of returning them to society as productive, self-sufficient citizens.
Title of Position: Young Professionals (YP) Intern
Supervisor and Supported By: Philanthropy Officer
Purpose of Position: This internship is designed for individuals interested in obtaining hands-on experience within the non-profit development sector. This part-time intern will work under the staff lead for DRM Young Professionals, and assist both with various tasks that include communications, database support, event planning/facilitation, administrative duties, stewardship projects, and more. This role does not include direct solicitation of donations.
Duties May Include:
- Writing YP donor thank you cards and making calls to thank and support YP needs
- Supporting ongoing donor engagement through attending and assisting at YP donor events
- Planning one YP event under the guidance of the YP staff lead
- Assisting the YP staff lead with various stewardship projects
- Collaborating with the YP staff lead in drafting and editing special written content
- Assisting with database maintenance, clean up, and entry projects related to YP
- Performing other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the Development Team
- Ability to work well with donors under 40
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Passion for helping others
- Willingness to learn
- Flexibility to attend semi-regular night events and meetings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel
