Position Overview:
Safikovs Law is seeking a motivated, detailed, and customer service-oriented Law Clerk currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and pursuing a bachelor’s degree, ideally with an interest in pre-law, political science, criminal justice, or a related field. This role is a hands-on learning opportunity designed for students who are considering a future in law and want to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced family law practice.
The Law Clerk will assist with document preparation, legal research, and case file organization while working directly with the firm’s attorney and senior paralegal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with drafting and formatting legal pleadings, motions, and correspondence under supervision
- Help prepare case materials and organize exhibits for hearings and trials
- Maintain and update client files and legal databases
- Shadow the attorney and senior paralegal in daily case work and client interactions
- Perform basic legal research and summarize findings
- Provide administrative support as needed, including scanning, copying, and document management
- Deliver high-quality client service through professional, empathetic, and responsive communication
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all client-related matters
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (preferably junior or senior standing)
- Interest in pursuing a career in law or attending law school
- Strong writing, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous customer service experience is required—this position involves direct client contact and requires strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and emotional intelligence are essential—this role involves frequent contact with highly emotional clients in difficult circumstances. The ability to remain calm, composed, and professional is a must
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive conversations tactfully and compassionately
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a commitment to helping clients feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their legal journey
