Worship Pastor
The Impact You’ll Be Making:
The role of the Worship Pastor at OCC is incredibly important and vital to our vision. God’s heart is clear throughout Scripture - worship is more than music and singing. It’s a life-long response to God’s grace, permeating every facet of life, leading to the transformation of people and places. People who are becoming more like Jesus, and places that are experiencing shalom. Worship is vital to breaking down walls of injustice and healing areas of brokenness, so God’s vision of heaven here on earth (in Redmond) becomes reality. Thus, true worship and the work of justice are closely connected. This person will help pastor a diverse church family in understanding, practicing, and sharing with others what true worship looks like as we follow Jesus together. This will require weaving together the cultures and giftings within OCC through music, song, art, and other creative elements. Here are the major areas of work and responsibility related to this role:
- Work with Co-Lead Pastors on vision and direction of worship at OCC.
- Lead staff and congregation in experiences that help them experience the Love of God and leads to an ongoing transformation into the likeness of Jesus.
- Curate worship using a lens of justice and anti-racism (prioritize diverse theological and cultural expressions).
- Communicate clearly and invitationally across various platforms, settings, and cultures.
- Collaborate with Experience team and others in creating the weekend worship gatherings as well as other worship experiences.
- Help facilitate the development of worship ministries throughout the church (e.g. KidTown, Student Ministries, Spanish Fellowship).
- Provide pastoral leadership by caring for worship team members and others within the Overlake family (our belonging to each other, and formation into the likeness of Jesus is greater than performance).
- Identify, invite, and develop worship leaders, musicians, and other creatives. Invest time to build team skills and confidence in music, voice, and prayer life (true worship flows from whole, spiritually rooted people).
