We’re looking for creative, detail-oriented Game Writers to help craft compelling narratives for projects ranging from financial literacy games and CDL simulators to esports titles and real-world training environments like firefighting, aviation, and construction.

What You'll Do
As a Game Writer, you’ll shape immersive player experiences by:
- Writing engaging dialogue, quests, tutorials, and story arcs tailored to training and sports-based games
- Collaborating with designers, developers, and artists to align storytelling with gameplay and educational outcomes
- Crafting branching narratives and character bios that encourage player agency and emotional connection
- Transforming technical or educational objectives into entertaining, mission-based storylines
- Building motivational and emotional hooks into player progression and level design
- Participating in content review sessions, feedback cycles, and narrative iteration
You’ll Learn To:
- Script dynamic and immersive stories for simulation and esports environments
- Use narrative tools in Unity, Unreal, or visual scripting platforms
- Translate abstract learning goals (e.g., “teach safe driving”) into engaging missions
- Balance realism, entertainment, and instruction in serious games
- Apply storytelling techniques to diverse formats—from arcade mini-games to full simulation worlds
Requirements:
- Strong writing skills with an emphasis on character, dialogue, and story structure
- Ability to adapt tone and voice for different genres, from instructional to casual gaming
- Interest in education, sports, simulation, and digital storytelling
- Exposure to game writing, screenwriting, or narrative design concepts
- Available to attend virtual meetings:
- Mondays @ 9:00 AM MST
- Wednesdays @ 10:00 AM MST
- Fridays @ 8:00 AM MST
- (Thursdays @ 9:00 AM MST for SkillBridge participants)
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Valued):
- Experience with Twine, Ink, Yarn Spinner, or narrative scripting tools
- Journalism, creative writing, or screenwriting background
- Familiarity with esports, sports broadcasting, or coaching
- Interest in political, legal, or financial storytelling
- Chat GBT, Gemini, deepseek, meta ai, gork, notebook LM
