About Nolte Academy
Nolte Academy is an award-winning performing arts school rooted in artistry, community, discipline and technique. Located in Iowa City, we are home to a thriving community of young artists and an exceptional faculty committed to excellence in training and creativity. Our students are compassionate humans and hard workers—many of whom go on to dance in college, study at top conservatories and perform professionally.

The Role
We are seeking a seasoned Jazz and Contemporary dance educator and choreographer with a strong foundation in ballet technique. The ideal candidate has a choreographic voice that speaks clearly to intermediate and advanced dancers—someone who creates work that challenges, excites, and elevates young performers while honoring their individual journeys.

This is an in-person role with weekly commitments to both technique instruction and choreographic development. The position offers a space for an artist who is not only highly trained and professionally experienced but also deeply student-centered—someone who teaches without ego, leads with empathy, and builds trust through consistency and care.

What We’re Looking For
You bring a deep understanding of dance technique, and you use that knowledge to inform your jazz and contemporary instruction. Your choreography is innovative yet accessible, and you thrive in a collaborative environment where mutual respect and artistic integrity are foundational. You connect with students as whole humans, guiding them with rigor and kindness.

You’ve likely taught and created work in pre-professional or professional settings, and you understand the demands and nuances of training serious young dancers. Whether preparing a group for competition or creating work for the stage, your focus remains on artistic growth and technical clarity.

Why Nolte Academy
We are a place where artists come to grow—not just our students, but our faculty, too. At Nolte, you’ll find a supportive community, a beautiful state-of-the-art facility, and an environment where high expectations are paired with genuine joy. You’ll have opportunities to create, collaborate, and mentor alongside an incredible team of educators.
