Reports to: Assistant Director of Career Advising

The Pre-Professional & Career Preparation (PREPs) Office provides comprehensive career and pre-professional services to help science students navigate their professional journey. PREPs offers advising, programming, and resources to help students develop skills and meaningful connections to achieve post-graduation goals.
About the Position
The Graphic Design Intern develops a creative approach to designing education and marketing materials for multiple audiences (students, employers, alumni, etc.) and mediums (digital and print).
Open to both work study and non-work study students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and update office's visual materials (educational handouts, marketing flyers/posters, office and event signage, etc.)
- Craft visual materials from data and reports to highlight key takeaways
- Learn and design within the IU branding guidelines (brand expression, visual language, verbal language)
- Consult with PREPs' staff in developing and executing a strategic approach to visual communication
- Other tasks and assignments as needed or designated by supervisor and/or staff.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
This position is open to undergraduate students only.
Availability:
- Requires regular weekly availability within PREPs operating hours (M-F, 9am-4pm)
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Sophomore academic standing; GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, and InDesign or Illustrator
- Familiar with Canva and Microsoft 365
- Familiar with fundamental concepts of visual communication (e.g. page design/layout)
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with others
- Ability to work both independently and on a team
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable of design principles, typography, color theory
- Experience working within IU branding guidelines
- Media Arts & Science or Visual Communication Design major
