English Language Learner Coach- Northridge, Options for Youth
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
Developing Curriculum for English Learners
Develop independent study and small group curriculum and lesson plans that incorporate strategies beneficial to this unique student population, including but not limited to SDAIE strategies and speaking, listening, reading, and writing strategies in English.
Research new material and recommend pilot projects, providing the most effective program for the students.
Provide training for staff on implementing strategies and the new curriculum, including modeling lessons.
Assessment and Instructional Support of English Learners
Work with the Assessment team to ensure appropriate ELPAC testing of all English Learners
Support school leaders and teachers in utilizing assessment results (ELPAC and other assessments) to make Individualized Learning Plans for each English Learner that move them effectively and efficiently to proficiency in English.
Coordinate communication between CAD and the field regarding assessment strategies, analysis of results, and instructional support of English Learners.
Create and train all stakeholders in the re-designation of the English Learners plan.
Monitor and impact data related to the English Learner population, and serves as liaison to chartering districts about the progress of ELs.
Training on Instructional Strategies for English Learners
Provide feedback to developers of the common-core aligned curriculum
Support out-of-state English Learner Curriculum and Assessment needs
Prepare and provide professional development to staff and leadership about SDAIE strategies, new curriculum, and other topics related to the English Learner population.
Perform other administrative functions and duties assigned.
You’ll Need The Following Minimum Requirements:
Current CLAD/BCLAD California teaching credential
English Language Development Specialist or similar experience
Proficiency in Spanish preferred
Knowledge of English Language Development and SDAIE
