Director of Facilities Operations
The Vermont Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and organized leader for the position of Director of Facilities Operations. This position oversees Vermont's six correctional facilities, as well as contracts and/or agreements with public or private entities for the supervision of Vermont incarcerated individuals who are out of state. In this fast-paced position, the incumbent will have frequent contact with other departments, agencies, community members, legislature and the media.
This position will be involved in policy development, operational best practices, and will assist in developing or guiding legislation. The incumbent will be involved in collective bargaining with the Vermont State Employees Association. You'll be responsible for the health and safety of all incarcerated individuals in DOC custody and works closely with our medical providers to ensure a community standard of care in all facilities. The Director Of Facilities Operations is responsible for the safe working conditions for staff in correctional facilities. Under the incumbent's command are the DOC Special Response Teams, comprised of: Tactical Response, Crisis Intervention, Peer Support and Honor Guard. This position will be responsible for the operating budgets of all correctional facilities, as well as the Central Security budget. You will be expected to be available 24-hours a day. Frequent calls or emails should be expected any time of the day or night.
