REGISTERED NURSE
QUALIFICATIONS: At least 18 years of age. Possess a valid driver’s license. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts. Have a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, OR an Associates Degree with two years experience
SUPERVISED BY: Health Care Coordinator
SUMMARY: Overall, the Program Nurse works cooperatively with the Health Care Coordinator to monitor the individual’s medical status/issues and serves as a management liaison to the Director of Day and Residential Services for day-to-day activities of programs.
NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work cooperatively with the Health Care Coordinator and other nursing staff to Provide nursing coverage to Bass River Programs as requested.
- To give medication to individuals as ordered.
- To participate in individuals medical appointments as requested
- Maintain up to date medical information for individuals and communicate with the Health Care Coordinator and Program Directors about individual status as indicated.
- To provide training and ongoing supervision to individuals and staff regarding topics such as infection control, universal precautions, seizure management (monitoring and documentation), body mechanics (lifting and moving, transfer) and in the giving/documentation/and storage of individual medications.
- Interpretation of medical information as requested.
- To report program/clinical needs to the Director in a timely and orderly fashion and to follow through as requested.
MANAGEMENT REPONSIBLITIES:
- Maintain compliance to all regulatory standards and documentation requirements of the Division of Medical Assistance, Department of Developmental Disabilities, and other monitoring bodies
- To be informed of and respect the Human and Legal rights of all individuals.
- To maintain confidentiality of all individuals.
- To initiate, maintain and ensure ongoing communication between Bass River, Families, Residences, Service Coordinators/QMRP, Consultants and/or any individual/agency.
- Assist in the maintenance of CARF accreditation status.
- To participate in the screening/evaluation of individuals being considered for acceptance (admission) to Bass River.
- Participate with the Program Director in the hiring, supervision, and discipline of staff as requested and to participate in regular staff meetings.
- To attend in-services, workshops, conferences as required/requested by Bass River, Inc.
- To participate in the Bass River, Inc., Management Team.
- Report relevant staff/individual issues to Program Director.
- To participate in the development and implementation of program content based upon individual needs and program focus.
- To provide direct care coverage as necessary.
- Driving individuals or agency vehicles as directed by supervisor as required.
