Position Overview

Lighthouse Christian Academy is seeking a joyful and mission-minded Middle School Humanities Teacher to join our faculty. This teacher will lead students in the study of literature, history, and writing through a Biblical and classical lens—helping students discover the beauty of language, the lessons of the past, and the power of persuasive, virtuous expression.

Key Responsibilities

Teach middle school humanities courses, including literature, history, composition, and discussion-based seminars.

Integrate Biblical truths with classical texts and historical events to help students understand God’s providence in human affairs.

Inspire wonder, virtue, and critical thinking through Socratic discussion, narrative, imitation, and thoughtful writing.

Shepherd students’ hearts and minds by modeling and teaching Biblical truth with grace, joy, and authority.

Foster intellectual and moral virtue by cultivating habits of attention, humility, diligence, and wise speech.

Design and implement lessons that reflect classical pedagogy and promote deep reading and meaningful engagement.

Build positive, grace-filled relationships with students and communicate regularly with parents.

Practice effective classroom management rooted in the Love and Logic approach, maintaining a learning environment marked by order and respect.

Participate fully in the spiritual and communal life of the school through chapel, faculty meetings, and school-wide events.

Qualifications

A deep and growing Christian faith, displayed in character, church involvement, and love for Christ and His Word.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities, literature, history, education, or a related field.

Teaching experience preferred, especially in classical or Christian education, strongly preferred.

Familiarity with classical texts, pedagogical methods, and the integration of faith and learning.

A commitment to the mission and vision of Lighthouse Christian Academy.

The ability to lead students with firm kindness, intellectual rigor, and moral clarity.

A love for students and a desire to cultivate both their minds and their hearts.
