The MEP internship & career path involves supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and low-voltage systems at a designated jobsite or project location. Individuals will have the opportunity to be exposed to complex building systems, understand the importance of effectively managing specialty MEP trades, and will have the opportunity to be assigned to larger, more complex projects that require dedicated attention to MEP. This is a rewarding experience & career path that allows individuals to build technical expertise in an area pertinent to all buildings.
The Project MEP Intern’s position is an opportunity to preview what the Project MEP Engineer role would be like upon a full time hire, and contribute for to the overall project success while gaining valuable real world experience and education credit. On a daily basis, you will be work in conjunction with other Field Staff to ensure mutual project and personal development goals are being met. Duties may include the following, depending on education and skill level, as well as status/timing of the project.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assist team with General Contract and Subcontract administration
• Exposure to Construction Scheduling
• Material & Equipment – procurement and expediting
• Mechanical, electrical and piping systems coordination
• Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
• Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings
• Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
• Maintenance of As-Built plans
• Exposure to and monitoring of quality control - field and shop
• Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention
Position Qualifications:
- Students with Sophomore or Junior standing currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related major
- Valid interest in pursuing a career in Construction/Project Management required, with an interest in MEP: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Building Systems Controls
- General knowledge of construction principles/processes is preferred
- Geographic flexibility and willingness to relocate and/or commute to an assigned jobsite within a multi-state region
