Description
The Office of Income Tax has an opening for a Revenue Tax Policy Analyst I in the Division of Corporation Tax. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is analytical, meticulous, thorough, self-starting, and a team player.
As a Revenue Tax Policy Analyst I for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will assist management and Division staff by providing analysis of business and programmatic functions of Revenue applications. Your analysis and feedback are vital in communicating with taxpayers, state agencies, vendors and developers to maintain and implement effective technology operations. You will actively participate in project developments to ensure the success of programs and monitor the progress of agency goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works as a liaison for the agency by testing programmatic functions utilized by the department. Performs analysis of functions by using testing environments for corporate tax data and ensuring proper efficacy.
- Manages resources by examining data error listings as well as assisting with the placement tests and unbalanced transactions. Organize all aspects of application needs.
- Works with staff and IT on special project planning. Manages various reports and maintains office data spreadsheets. Organizes and implements user training for various systems and procedures. Prioritizing numerous requests, assignments, and other workloads.
- Assist with division reporting requirements by collecting and organizing information in excel or other formats and presenting to management or other staff. Analyze and document information as well as monitor goals and objectives of the office. Ensuring the safety and confidentiality of taxpayer information, data, and records.
- Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure accurate management of resources. Disseminates information and correspondence to office staff. Maintains office records for retrieval and keeps procedure manuals current for staff reference. Advises management of any changes in procedures.
Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, commerce, economics, finance or a related field OR must be a graduate of an accredited school of law.

EXPERIENCE: Three years of professional experience in tax administration, tax preparation, tax research, tax law, auditing of taxes, or college teaching in one of these or related academic fields.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in accounting, business administration, commerce, economics, finance, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year for year basis. Licensure to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or certification as a Certified Public Accountant will substitute for two years of the experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in tax administration, tax preparation, tax research, or auditing of taxes will substitute for education on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
