Systems & Applications Engineer

 

Description:

iDEAL Semiconductors is breaking the boundaries of the Power Semiconductor space by defining and developing cutting edge technologies for use in the product development of silicon power Diodes, MOSFETs, and IGBTs.  We are looking for an individual to work on Systems and Applications engineering projects related to development responsibilities for these devices. At the same, collaborate with a cross functional product development team. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 to 10 Years experience in high frequency power converters
    • Understanding of common SMPS topologies 
    • Experience in AC-to-DC and/or DC-to-DC converter design, including detailed analysis of system efficiency and power loss breakdown, thermal analysis and debugging
    • Proficient in Diode, MOSFET & Driver IC characteristics
    • Proficient in End-to-End Power conversion Applications
  • BSEE, MSEE preferred, or equivalent years of experience
  • Spice simulation of power switching circuits; Matlab/Simulink desirable 
  • Embedded controls software desirable
  • Component selection for optimized cost verses performance
  • General power electronics lab experience (oscilloscope, power supplies, isolation)

 

General Skills:

Proven history of technical accomplishment on Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS)  and/or Motord Drive design and projects.  Experience working with a technical team in a product development environment.   Practice a disciplined approach to problem solving. Able to make timely intelligent decisions regarding the execution of multiple parallel projects.  Able to develop and execute plans with limited resources.  Able to make intelligent decisions based on business priorities.  Good communication skills.

 

Team and People Skills:

Influence others to learn and work together to solve difficult problems.  Able to effectively influence cross functional teams and support groups.  Able to focus discussions and drive the items to conclusion. Ability to coach and train new engineers to a higher level of performance and ability.  Customer oriented (internal & external) and excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
