About the Role
At Hand of Mercy Health Care (HOM), we are seeking a licensed or conditionally licensed master’s-level Outpatient Mental Health Therapist with a passion for mental health. This role is responsible for conducting timely evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapy services to our clients.
- Annual Salary: $50,016
- Bonus: $80 weekly if threshold met
- Location: Portland, Maine

Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Intake
- Review referrals and determine client eligibility for HOM programs.
- Conduct screening interviews and use standardized mental health and substance use assessment tools.
- Complete intake documentation and enter data into our EHR system.
Therapy & Support
- Provide individualized outpatient therapy services.
- Manage crisis situations to ensure client safety.
- Develop diagnoses and treatment plans tailored to client needs.
Compliance & Documentation
- Write formal evaluation reports that meet HOM standards.
- Participate in case reviews, supervision sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure services are delivered with cultural competence and in accordance with diversity and inclusion principles.
Qualifications for Outpatient Mental Health Therapist
- Active ME State license (LCSW, LCPC, LMSW, or conditional licenses such as LCSW-CC, LCPC-CC, LMSW-CC) or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Experience in psychosocial assessment, particularly with youth, young adults, or underserved populations(e.g., immigrants, homeless individuals, legal system-involved).
- Strong ability to work independently and in high-paced environments.
- Minimum of 26 billable hours per week required.
