Backend Security Engineering Residency (Onsite, Hawaii)

Backend Security Engineering Residency (Internship) — CoDream, Kaua‘i

Duration: 8 – 12 weeks • Summer 2025 (start dates flexible) • On-site, jungle campus

What You’ll Work On

  • Architect and maintain secure APIs and micro-services in Go, Python, or Node.
  • Integrate modern cryptography (RSA/ECC keys, digital signatures, secure key storage).
  • Hunt for and remediate OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities before they reach production.
  • Collaborate with the AI team to sign and verify model outputs.
  • Document best practices so future residents—and your résumé—benefit from your work.

 

You’ll Thrive Here If You

  • Are comfortable with a level of ambiguity and going with the flow
  • Have completed at least two classes—or the self-taught equivalent—in algorithms, distributed systems, or infosec.
  • Have built a backend side-project and can explain your code decisions.
  • Understand the basics of TLS, JWT/OAuth, or Linux hardening.
  • Love digging through docs, asking questions, and fixing what isn’t working.
  • Bonus points for cloud skills (AWS or GCP), DevOps know-how, or experience with compliance frameworks like SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
