Position: Elementary Science Teacher
Effective Date: 8/15/2025
Salary: Per the OEA Master Agreement salary range $42,298 - $84,350 based on degree and experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Teacher will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the policies and disciplinary systems of Oscoda Area Schools.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare the classroom for classroom activities
- Make available district provided learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Observe and evaluate student’s work performance and development
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
- Manage student behavior during transition times and before and after school as assigned.
- Actively participate in a variety of district meetings including those that are mandatory.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails
- Participate in appropriate professional activities
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, club and student organizations as directed.
- Provide supervision of students, as designated and assigned.
- Act in a professional supervisory capacity when interacting with or observing students and student behavior.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid MI Teaching Certificate bearing a 6-8 or 6-12 Science Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years’ experience as a certified teacher in Michigan
- Valid MI Teaching Certificate bearing a 6-8 or 6-12 Integrated Science (DI) Endorsement
