Elementary Science Teacher

Position: Elementary Science Teacher 

Effective Date: 8/15/2025

Salary: Per the OEA Master Agreement salary range $42,298 - $84,350 based on degree and experience                                

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Teacher will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the policies and disciplinary systems of Oscoda Area Schools.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare the classroom for classroom activities
  • Make available district provided learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Observe and evaluate student’s work performance and development
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Manage student behavior during transition times and before and after school as assigned.
  • Actively participate in a variety of district meetings including those that are mandatory. 
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, club and student organizations as directed.
  • Provide supervision of students, as designated and assigned.
  • Act in a professional supervisory capacity when interacting with or observing students and student behavior. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Valid MI Teaching Certificate bearing a 6-8 or 6-12 Science Endorsement

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3 years’ experience as a certified teacher in Michigan
  • Valid MI Teaching Certificate bearing a 6-8 or 6-12 Integrated Science (DI) Endorsement

  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
