Work Study Lab Assistant: Muscle Biology Lab

The Muscle Biology Lab at Oakland University is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our team as a Lab Assistant. Our lab focuses on wet-lab research using a variety of molecular biology techniques, including genotyping, PCR, real-time PCR, Western blotting, Immunohistochemistry, muscle cell culture and animal work. Please note that you must have a Federal Work Study (FWS) award to apply for this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain lab cleanliness and organization
Wash dishes and sterlize tools and materials (autoclaving)
Prepare buffers, reagents, and other materials for experiments
Assist with general animal husbandry and maintenance of the mouse colony
Support graduate students and the PI in routine laboratory experiments
Preferred Qualifications
Prior lab experience is a plus but not required
Willingness to work with mice (training provided)
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a willingess to learn
