Next-Generation Secure Messaging Project. Code Name: IronHalo Summer Internship

Next-Generation Secure Messaging Project (Codename: IronHalo)

Project Overview:

IronHalo is a stealth-stage initiative to prototype a next-generation secure messaging architecture designed to be post-quantum resilient, metadata-invisible. and engineered for uncompromising security. This system blends cutting-edge cryptography, decentralized identity (DID), and optional AI privacy tools to build the foundation for truly sovereign, secure communication—beyond WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegram.

This is not just another messaging app. We're designing the infrastructure from scratch, with full control over encryption, identity, and routing, optimized for high-stakes sectors like sensitive enterprise and independent sovereignty.

The project is sponsored by Platinum Venture Labs, an initiative under Platinum Capital Partners, Inc.  https://www.platinumcapitalpartners.net/about-us.html created to incubate and accelerate breakthrough technologies.

Internship Objectives: What You’ll Work On

- Help prototype foundational components of the IronHalo communication stack

- Work on end-to-end encrypted messaging using post-quantum cryptography (Kyber, Dilithium)

- Integrate decentralized identity management using DIDs

- Design or simulate metadata-resistant routing (e.g., relay, mixnet, cover traffic)

- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and team demos

Project Tracks (You may express a preference when applying):

Track 1: Post-Quantum Encryption – Key exchange, message ratcheting, and cryptographic libraries (liboqs, PQClean)

Track 2: Decentralized Identity – DID protocols, wallet key UX, key recovery

Track 3: Metadata Resistance – Relay node simulation, cover traffic design, mixnet protocols

Track 4 (Optional): Privacy-Aware AI – On-device assistant to identify privacy leaks or metadata exposure

Who We’re Looking For

Beyond technical skills, we're seeking independent, applied thinkers who thrive in ambiguity and enjoy building systems from first principles. Ideal candidates will:

- Have a strong builder mindset with interest in systems, cryptography, or networking

- Be comfortable working in early-stage, ambiguous environments

- Be able to collaborate asynchronously and explain technical decisions clearly

Students will work closely with the technical lead and may be invited to continue into future stages of development, including a potential commercial spinout — with opportunities for equity participation based on contribution

Which academic disciplines we are looking for

- Cryptography & Applied Security

- Decentralized Identity & Blockchain

- AI/NLP for privacy-preserving systems

- Peer-to-peer Networking & Protocol Design

Internship Format

Location: Remote

Duration: 10–12 weeks (Summer 2025)

Open to: Master’s and PhD candidates in CS, EE, Security, or related fields

Compensation: Competitive stipend based on experience

Confidentiality and IP

All participants will sign an NDA and IP assignment agreement.

This is a privately funded R&D effort not affiliated with a university or government agency.
