AYW Conservation Corps | USFS Lands and Minerals Technician Individual Placement | Lufkin, TX

Are you interested in getting paid to gain experience assessing various national forest land uses working with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas Supervisor’s Office (USFS)?

National Forests and Grasslands in Texas Supervisor’s Office (USFS) is seeking a Lands and Minerals Technician Individual Placement! This Individual Placement will assist U.S. Forest Service natural resource specialists in assessing various land uses within Texas’ national forest for compliance. The IP’s work will help determine whether resources are being responsibly managed by use holders.

Location: Lufkin, TX

This is a full-time seasonal term-based AmeriCorps Individual Placement position working outdoors. The Texas Conservation Corps is a Program of American YouthWorks.

COMPENSATION (Monthly Living Allowance):

  • $2,400 per month ($1200 biweekly)

 

AMERICORPS TERM LENGTHS

Lufkin, TX (900 hour)

  • June/July 2025 – November/December 2025

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Heavy lifting, bending, and carrying up to 35-50* pounds (*depending on crew type)
  • Walking and working on steep or uneven terrain

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather types while doing demanding labor with hand and power tools
  • Function as part of a team with the ability to get along with members of all backgrounds and experience levels
  • Strong service ethic and commitment to completing an entire term of service with a desire to serve the community and the environment
  • Prior experience in conservation or related fieldwork preferred
