Head Start Assistant Preschool Teacher

Join Our Team as an Assistant Preschool Teacher – Make a Lasting Difference

Do you light up around young children? Are you ready to build a career that's hands-on, meaningful, and full of purpose? Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership (EICAP) is looking for an Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our Head Start classroom at the Idaho Falls East Center.

In this role, you'll work alongside a Lead Teacher to create a safe, joyful, and inclusive environment where preschoolers can thrive. You'll help guide early learning activities that support literacy, math, social-emotional growth, and physical development-laying the foundation for school readiness and lifelong success. Our classrooms are rooted in respect, curiosity, and connection, and we use anti-bias, multicultural materials to reflect the diverse families we serve.

This is a very active, hands-on position. You'll be up and moving, engaging with children on the floor, helping with classroom routines, meals, diapering, and transitions throughout the day. And when the Lead Teacher is out, you'll step in to maintain classroom structure and learning-giving you meaningful leadership experience. It's a vital, impactful role that offers the chance to grow your skills every day.

You'll be part of a strong, collaborative team that includes teachers, parents, and volunteers who all share the same mission: to give every child the best possible start in life. We value open communication and shared problem-solving, and you'll participate in weekly team planning meetings, child assessments, and support for home visits and conferences.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Equivalency Degree (GED) and
  • The ability to obtain the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with EICAP's guidance within 12 months of hire (we'll cover the cost)
  • Experience working with preschool age children required
  • Preferred Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
  • The ability to become CPR and First Aid certified through EICAP's training program.

This is a full-time, year-round position that offers more than just a paycheck--it's a role with purpose, growth, and a generous benefits package. Starting wages range from $16.08 to $16.36 per hour, depending on experience. As part of the EICAP team, you'll have access to health insurance with just 1% of your premium cost covered by you, while EICAP covers 60% of premiums for your dependents. Dental and vision insurance are fully paid for you, with 60% coverage for dependents as well. You'll also receive a 403(b) retirement plan with a 6% employer match, along with paid time off-including vacation, sick leave, and holidays. Life insurance and access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are provided at no cost to you, and additional optional benefits are available, such as pet care discounts, legal services, and critical illness coverage. EICAP also invests in your professional growth, with ongoing training and support to help you advance into a Lead Teacher role if that's your goal.

At EICAP, we believe every child-regardless of their starting point-deserves the chance to succeed. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact and start or grow your career in early childhood education, we'd love to hear from you.
