As the Peer Support Specialist you’ll bring your knowledge of mental health services, schools, and community systems to the table, helping families access natural supports and build their safety networks. With your ability to engage deeply and authentically, you’ll foster strong relationships, advocate collaboratively, and champion the unique strengths of every youth. From coaching around self-care and safety planning to participating in community mental health awareness events and peer forums, your work will spark real, meaningful change.
ABOUT WRAPAROUND
Seneca’s Wraparound program in Santa Clara County provides culturally-sensitive, highly-coordinated intensive services to youth and families with complex and enduring needs. Through a team and strengths-based approach, the mental health supports focus on enhancing safety, placement stability, and well-being. Wraparound works in close partnership with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Juvenile Probation, Behavioral Health and Post-Adoption services to provide outcome-oriented services aimed to keep youth in their homes and community. Wraparound serves racially and ethnically diverse youth and families regardless of, but not limited to, their socio-economic circumstance, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and religion.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide and communicate guidance, expertise, and support for youth, families, and/or any other natural supports one-on-one and in group settings
- Demonstrate high level engagement and alignment skills, to build trust and rapport with youth, families, and collateral supports
- Work as a “collaborative advocate,” helping youth, caregivers, and family members understand the mandates and perspectives of other team members while navigating through county systems
- Use knowledge of community resources, school systems, or other mental health services to help youth and families identify and connect to a family safety network and/or natural support team in the community
- Provide coaching and support related to safety planning/self-control plans as well as self-care plans for youth/families
- Attend and participate in mental health awareness activities in the community
- Participate in peer forums which may include public speaking engagements
- Complete all training requirements as indicated by supervisor
- Participate in weekly supervision/mentorship with the supervisor or designee
- Maintain accurate and high-quality documentation and paperwork including but not limited to mental health notes, timesheets, expense reports, and mileage
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Personal lived experience receiving services from relevant system between the ages 10 -17 (e.g. foster care/social services, educational/IEP services, SARC/developmental services, Medi-cal, adoption, juvenile probation, substance use disorder treatment, or mental/behavioral health)
- High school diploma/GED
- Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled ahead of time
- At least 18 years of age
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
PREFERRED
- Bilingual Spanish skill set
- Ability to work with diverse population
- Strong organization and communication skills
Schedule
- Full-time; Monday - Friday; 9am - 5:30pm
- On-site, in-person services provided
- Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled ahead of time
Benefits
- Starting at $27.32 - $29.82 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification
- Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
