Budget Analyst
Join the City of Durango's Finance Department as a Budget Analyst. In this fast-paced role, you'll be an important part of a small, dedicated team managing the City's approximately $229 million budget. This includes everything from planning, development, and preparation to crucial reporting that directly supports the City's strategic plan. You'll also contribute to our Performance Excellence initiatives, help design and improve processes, manage performance metrics, and create data-driven solutions across all City departments.
What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Maintain collaborative relationships with City departments by providing administrative and operational support, including analysis, budget preparation, and organizational studies.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, long-term forecasts, and budget trend analyses to support informed decision making.
- Review city-wide budget submissions for accuracy and completeness, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, performance measures, and updates.
- Support leadership in defining needs, determining deliverables, and developing project plans that advance the City’s strategic priorities.
- Analyze data to inform Strategic Plan discussions and track meaningful performance results.
- Contribute to operational and cost improvement initiatives across the organization by offering analytical and project support.
You Have:
- A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in finance, business, public administration, marketing, project management, quality or process improvement, or a related field.
- Two years of experience (preferred but not required) in finance, budgeting, process improvement, project management, or a related field.
