Special Education Teacher

Work directly with students who may have intellectual, social, physical or behavioral needs. Adapt and modify general education lessons and teach various subjects to students with disabilities. Build positive relationships with students and their families. Helps foster a love of learning for students and appropriately guides the learner to lead their learning.  Plans and implements specially designed instruction for students and monitors progress.  Collaborates with colleagues, paraprofessionals, and administration to best meet the needs of students.  This position is located at Bay Port High for Grade 9-12. Start date is August 18, 2025.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Licensure and certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in Special Education, Cross-categorical or Cognitive/Intellectual Disabilities (1801 or 1810).  Successful completion of student teaching experience. Knowledge of current educational methodology and practices.

Experience in or knowledge of: 
Viable candidates will be an active member of the school community, be able to create a positive and supportive classroom community, be organized and efficient, and to facilitate the district and school's mission. Desired experience with working with students with disabilities and a background in teaching/modifying science lessons.
