Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Social Studies

Long-Term Social Studies Substitute

Early November 2025 - Mid-March 2026
 

Position Summary

We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Social Studies who has experience teaching and knowledge of the content. Ideally, candidates are comfortable with technology, committed to collaboration, and eager to join a community always looking to improve instructional practices. If you are someone who thrives in an environment with high standards, is curious about creating a more equitable and inclusive history curriculum, and who can contribute to the strength of our school and community, please consider joining us for these 4 - 5 months!
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver daily lesson plans for World History and US History courses
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment
  • Evaluate student progress and adapt instruction to meet student needs
  • Effectively communicate with students, peers, parents, and administrators
     

Qualifications/Skills

  • Knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans based on student needs within different learning groups
  • Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing
  • Background check, including fingerprinting required
  • Maine Teaching Certification with Social Studies endorsement (200) desired.
     

Pay

  • Pay dependent on certification and experience
  • 1 Paid Sick Day per Month
  • Maine PERS Eligible
  • Eligible to contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan
