Development and Communications Associate Intern

Position Overview 

Girls Inc. of Chicago (GIOC) is proud to be leading a community focused initiative: The BOLD Futures Youth Employment Partnership. For this important youth-led and youth-focused work, GIoC will be hiring and paying young adults between the ages of 16-24 years old to support the Development Department. Employment will be for 10 weeks (July 1st-September 5th) at approximately 20 hours/week. 

The Development and Communications Intern will assist with fundraising and communications efforts, including content creation, social media coordination, event support, and grant writing and prospecting. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development and communications. 

Girls Inc. of Chicago's traditional work hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Selected applicants must be able to work within these traditional work hours.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Create content for newsletters, social media, and email campaigns. Draft stories highlighting program impact and donor engagement. Coordinate social media posts, ensuring content aligns with the organization’s voice and goals. Take photos at events and programs for social media and promotional use. Assist with event logistics, materials, and follow-up. Assist with writing grant proposals, reports, and prospecting.
