Fall 2025 Public Relations Internship

This program is designed for students who want practical experience in public relations and marketing communications. Junapr offers semester-long internships for credit with a stipend. The goal of the internship is to give students a dynamic, real-life experience, building skills that will help them succeed in their communications careers in the future. Junapr welcomes students in their junior or senior year of college/university to apply.

Firm Description: 

Junapr is a focused marketing communications firm based in Vermont, working with organizations across the US. Our team comprises a dispersed workforce, and we work from our office in Charlotte, VT, and remotely from home across New England. Our clients range in industry and include food and hospitality, CPG, higher education, B2B, and non-profit organizations. Our services include public relations campaign development and delivery, media relations, digital influencer outreach, digital community management, content development, event management, and crisis communications planning and management. 

Internship Description: 

As part of a structured program, participants will work with a Junapr mentor to help guide their work and provide feedback. Interns will perform a variety of tasks, including research, writing, and client support, and will learn how to work in a dynamic (and remote) team office environment.  

Students will gain the following experience: 

  • Work with the team to implement tactical recommendations to support client strategies.
  • Support your co-workers through consistent communications and prompt attention to the client and internal/team needs.
  • Contribute to the development of results-driven monthly reports for clients.
  • Participate in client calls and in client meetings as requested.
  • Conduct research that contributes to the development of compelling, newsworthy storylines to deliver earned media opportunities for clients.
  • Draft media and other communications materials as needed at the direction of the account team (e.g. fact sheets, bios, profiles, etc).
  • Develop social media content calendars that stem from an approved client social strategy provided by the account team.
  • Manage various social communities for clients, from posting approved content to identifying and drafting responses for engagement opportunities via Sprout Social.
  • Understand that a sense of urgency and attention to detail is an important part of what we do for our clients.
  • Contribute to an environment of people and teams that value collaboration, teamwork, and exceeding client expectations.
  • Provide administrative support to the team.
  • Continue to look for opportunities to learn new skills that will benefit yourself, your colleagues and your clients.

Outcomes

At the end of the internship, students will:

  • Have an understanding of how to work in a professional environment.
  • Have an understanding of how a client/agency relationship is maintained.
  • Have a good understanding of how publicists work with the media to secure coverage.
  • Have an understanding of how to measure media coverage.
  • Have an understanding on how to repackage earned media coverage to benefit an organization’s marketing efforts. 
  • Have created professional portfolio pieces (media pitch, social media content, etc.).

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will be college students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or communications. Applicants should highlight special skills and relevant knowledge, such as social media or industry-specific experience on their cover letter and resume, as appropriate.
