Geotechnical Staff Engineer – Entry Level

 

 

Giles Engineering Associates, Inc., a national leading provider of Geotechnical, Environmental, Subsurface Exploration and Construction Materials Testing services, is looking to expand our Orange, California office which services the Western United States. Giles is actively seeking an Entry Level Staff Engineer.  All candidates should be a motivated, internally driven, self-starter, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational capabilities and be able to multi-task.

 

Established in 1976, Giles provides a wide range of services to our clients on local, regional and national levels.  In addition to our corporate office located in Waukesha, WI, we also maintain branch offices strategically located in Orange, CA, and Dallas, TX. 

 

Entry level candidates should have a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical emphasis (M.S. Preferred) with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience; however, new graduates will also be considered and are encouraged to apply. Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) a plus.  Responsibilities include project coordination and communication with field and laboratory personnel including coordination and scheduling of field operations, soil sample logging, soil classification, laboratory assignment and assistance with report preparation and completion; subcontractor scheduling and team interaction throughout the duration of each project including time and expense management.   In addition, the candidate will be involved in other aspects of our consulting services: Environmental and Construction Materials Testing / Observation.  As part of the introduction to our firm, and to provide the candidate with a thorough background and understanding of all the different types of services we provide, the candidate will also be simultaneously trained in the field within these areas, ranging from assignments with current field personnel, to performing field testing and data gathering, to construction monitoring. Out-of-town travel, within the Western United States is required.
