Project Engineer Intern

JOB SUMMARY:    

The Project Engineer Intern will learn to read and understand the construction design documents and specifications, understand how to perform construction cost estimates and quantity surveys for various scopes of work, overall trade management and coordination, and some level of exposure to BIM.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Exercise general supervision of multiple job sites to monitor and manage projects during each phase of construction; including but not limited to pre-construction, construction, closeout, and post-construction.
  • Assist with coordination between project architects, designers, owners, and field personnel.
  • Assist with generating Request for Information (RFI) and submittals.
  • Help manage project subcontractors.
  • May coordinate change orders, expedite material, and job site equipment, assist in preparation of change orders, and compile data to assist in analyzing project progress.
  • Help to monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis; provide timely and accurate quality reports, and raise issues to Project Manager or Superintendent, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the inspection of all work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Learn and have fun.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of computer software, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Broad knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of LEAN and BIM techniques is a plus.
  • Experience with BIM is a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the job site. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

The salary range for this position is between $26.00 and $27.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
