Summer Internship at L'Arche
Are you looking for an opportunity to join an intentional, fun-filled community this summer where the gifts of every person are celebrated? L’Arche Boston North is a community of 5 homes where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together. Our adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that live in our homes are called “Core Members,” as they are the heart of our community. Our Summer Interns are Disability Support Companions who are “Assistants,” as they assist core members to live their best lives. We seek to build relationships rooted in mutual respect, trust, and joy. At L’Arche, caring for each other is never just a task—it’s a relationship of shared humanity and love.
Key Responsibilities:
Build mutual relationships with Core Members rooted in dignity and fun.
Provide personal care and support with daily living activities (e.g., bathing, dressing, meals, mobility, medications).
Create opportunities for joy, play, and meaningful engagement—whether through outings, music, games, art, or everyday laughter.
Support Core Members in pursuing their interests and goals.
Contribute to the life of the home through shared meals, household responsibilities, and community gatherings.
Collaborate with other Assistants and community leaders to ensure holistic, person-centered care.
Uphold the values and mission of L’Arche in all aspects of work and relationships.
