Summary of Duties:

Provide service to Canadian business in non-priority sectors (e.g. professional services) by undertaking research and analysis related to qualified contacts, commercial opportunities. 

Draft briefing and communications material, reports, and contracts as well as manage a shared repository.

Provide guidance on corporate processes and project implementation.

Plan activities and initiatives to support export, investment and innovation strategies. 

Plan and/or offering support for high-level visits.  

Manage social media channels. 

Assist with event planning and logistics, including scheduling, coordinating service providers, managing registrations, and supporting on-site execution.

Lead consultation efforts and compile relevant information to support decision-making and project development.

And others duties as assigned.

 

Area of Selection:

This selection process is open to all applicants legally residing in the New York Tri-State area at the time of appointment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

*Language will be assessed further during the process. 

 

Education:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

OR

  • A combination of education and experience relevant to the position, defined as College diploma or postsecondary school technical or professional diploma attesting 2 or more years of full-time studies and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience. 

 

Language:

  • An advanced proficiency level in English (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking)​​​​.

 

Experience:

Minimum 2 years recent* experience in a government, institutional, corporate and/or NGO context including one of the following activities:

  • Responding to client requests (internal and/or external) using a variety of digital tools, or
  • Researching, compiling and drafting reports to management, clients and/or stakeholders, or
  • Planning and delivering programs with minimal supervision in at least one of the following: B2B client meetings; roundtable/seminars; trade shows; trade delegations; high-profile visits.

 

*Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years.

 

RATED REQUIREMENTS

The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

  • Recent experience* in project implementation (including planning, execution, tracking/reporting results and budget management),
  • Knowledge of Canada’s commercial interest in NY, NJ, PA, CT, DE,
  • Experience working at a Canadian Mission in or outside the United States,
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in French. 

 

*Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years.

 

Operational Requirements:

Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with the Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulations of 37.50 hours per week.

Location of work: Works is normally performed on-site with some limited possibility for teleworking.

Occasional overtime, including evenings and weekends, may be required with advance notice. 

Occasional travel may be required, with advanced notice. 

Conditions of Employment:

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.

- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
