Software Engineer III - Quantum

Job Title: Software Engineer III – Quantum. Locations: Los Angeles, CA | Goleta, CA | Seattle, WA (Location preference available during application). This job is posted by Quantum Jobs USA, on the behalf of Google Quantum Careers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop product or system code with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Participate in design and code reviews with peers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and evolve documentation and internal learning resources.
  • Debug, triage, and resolve issues affecting system reliability or service operations;
  • Collaborate across teams, including hardware engineers, electronics experts, and quantum research scientists.
  • Drive standardization and implementation of service instrumentation, logging, alerting, and dashboards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in software development using modern programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms;
  • Experience building APIs and integrating third-party services.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in large-scale system design, debugging, and performance optimization;
  • Familiarity with telemetry and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Interest or background in quantum computing and related infrastructure;
  • Experience with Google Cloud Monitoring, tracing systems, or similar platforms.
