Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will reconcile accounts, process revenue activity, process invoices/payments to vendors, prepare documentation for auditors, and other day to day accounting tasks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establishes and maintains relationships with new and existing vendors.
• Reviews and verifies coding and processes invoices daily.
• Ensures bills are paid in a timely, accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
• Assists with AP statements, requesting copies of any missing invoices.
• Processes accurate general ledger entries for all monthly cash, credit card and sales transactions, and verifies that all balance to the POS system.
• Performs balance sheet reconciliations for cash and credit card related accounts and ensures that cash and credit card activity is recorded and posted to the proper general ledger accounts.
• Sends weekly and monthly sales to brand license locations as required by each license agreement.
• Monthly, verifies the revenues recorded match the monthly report from the POS system.
• Creates revenue and royalty reports.
• Processes monthly sales tax returns.
• Prepares cash account reconciliations and audits.
• Assists in providing documentation and support for the annual audit.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of, and the ability to adhere to, generally accepted accounting principles.
• Self-starter and eager to learn, own the process, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and thrive well under pressure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• 1-2 years’ Accounting experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs and intermediate user of Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Normal office environment with standard lighting and average noise levels. May require occasional weekend or holiday work. Prolonged periods sitting at desk working on a computer. Regular/repetitive use of hands and fingers to operate computer components (e.g., keyboard, mouse, etc.). Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, bend, reach, and squat.

Salary Range $55,000 - $65,000
