Position: Bilingual Interview & Transcription Assistant
Project: American Promise – A Verbatim Theatre Project
Location: Ithaca, NY
Stipend: $250

Are you fluent in English and Spanish and planning to be in Ithaca this summer? Join American Promise, a Verbatim Theatre project built from real-life immigration stories.

We are seeking a bilingual student or recent alum to support the first phase of this creative endeavor by assisting with interviews and Spanish-English translation. This phase will contribute to the development of a narrative script for a future theatrical performance.

Responsibilities:

• Translate and support semi-structured interviews with Spanish-speaking participants
• Potentially take the lead on conducting select interviews (optional)
• Collaborate with a team of two other assistants (filming/scheduling and transcription/dramaturgy)
• Assist with transcription of interviews conducted in Spanish
• Participate in one Zoom prep meeting before July 7
• Make phone calls to Spanish speaking participants in collaboration with the videographer/producer assistant
• Support transcription and communication efforts through August 15

Requirements:

• Fluency in both English and Spanish
• Comfort with translation and transcription tasks
• Availability in Ithaca for in-person interviews between July 7 and July 23
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
