Position Overview
The position assists in the development and implementation of employee career planning as well as career programs, events, resources, and initiatives to help improve employee productivity, supervisor effectiveness, and employee morale. Services provided are aimed at maximizing employee retention and the probability of lifelong career success.
Essential Functions
Designs, organizes, and implements career programs, events, and special career services initiatives and projects.
Administers and interprets assessments/inventories to assess departmental workforce work values, interests, skills, and competencies.
Researches and develops career resources for departmentwide use.
Identifies alternative internal career options for staff in transition to capitalize on individual knowledge, skill, and ability profiles. Maximizes person-job-organizational fit.
Creates career development plans to help employees grow and learn.
Assists in preparing employees for internal job searches, including application preparation and in-house interviewing.
Identifies and cultivates internal career advisor networks for personal career development.
Provides career advising intervention/mediation/facilitation for people experiencing job dissatisfaction.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor’s degree majoring in human resource management, public administration, business, or any related field; OR Completion of two years of college PLUS two years of experience planning, developing, and implementing career-related events and/or programs; OR Six years of experience planning, developing, and implementing career-related events and/or programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems using independent judgment.
Ability to plan and execute large and small employee events.
