Staff Accountant

Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-3; $57,200 - 60,000 dependent on qualifications

Duration: Calendar Year (this position works year-round)

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking, and engaging Staff Accountant to join the finance and administration team.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsibility for revenue accounting tasks such as journal entries, cash and account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, monthly & quarterly reporting, monitoring accounts, and research errors.
  • Review A/P Vouchers for accuracy, duplications and discounts taken.
  • Monitor expenditures including reconciling credit cards and reviewing submitted documents for completeness; review and approve purchase requisitions.
  • Assist with the college budget process to include data collection and analysis.
  • Maintain spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and work to automate accounting, budgeting, and purchasing processes.
  • Review Travel reimbursements before an individual is paid for non-card travel or partially non-card travel as part of Accounts Payable review.
  • Work collaboratively with various campus departments and administrators.
  • Serve on local and SUNY Committees, participate in meetings/webinars and teleconferencing


Requirements:
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Technical expertise in business management tools including MS excel
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent problem resolution and customer service skills
  • Highly motivated with the flexibility to work on several projects concurrently, changing directions as required.
  • Experience working with confidential matters
