Licensed Practical Nurse
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care for patients with common health issues, functioning as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team under the supervision of a registered nurse. The LPN makes safe, independent decisions within their practice scope, adhering to Joint Commission standards, federal and state regulations, and facility policies.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver quality nursing care by collecting data and recognizing deviations from normal health.
- Document findings thoroughly and communicate relevant information to the healthcare team.
- Implement nursing interventions based on individualized treatment plans and perform prescribed procedures.
- Conduct bedside laboratory tests, wound care, and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Support patients in coping and adapting to their illnesses.
- Ensure safe medication delivery according to policies, assessing patients before and after administration.
- Communicate patient needs and follow up on care responsibilities for continuity.
- Utilize nursing knowledge and resources to enhance evidence-based practice.
- Serve as a preceptor to new staff and complete assigned tasks.
Requirements:
- Current, valid, and active LPN license in the state of employment, with compact licenses acceptable.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments.
