Behavioral Health Technician
Position Summary:
A Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is to implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions to emotionally disturbed children/adolescents within a therapeutic environment. BHT will be spending time working directly with a child in their school, home, and/or community environment. A BHT will use a behavioral treatment plan to help that child improve their behavioral health using a series of short-term goals.
Qualifications:
- 60 College credits – Will also need to complete the 30 hour training). This training is provided by Milestone.
- Less than 60 College credits – Will need to complete the 30 – 40 hour BHT/ RBT training as per PA State requirements
Essential Functions:
- Provide 1:1 support and interventions when required. This includes behavior modification techniques and proactive strategies as outlined in the service plan.
- Support the family and school personnel in their efforts to stabilize the child by providing information, guidance, modeling and counseling.
- Provide therapeutic supervision of clients during treatment and educational activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Behavioral Consultant and all team members to ensure the service plan meets the child’s needs and recommend other services as needed.
- Assist in the management of aggressive clients as needed, using only de-escalation and behavior management techniques approved by the Director.
- Work “hands-on”, traditional as well as non-traditional hours in a variety of settings (i.e., home, school, day care, community, etc.).
- Maintain logs of behavioral progress and relay this information to team members, supervisors, and other staff as required.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed legibly, professionally, and submitted in a timely manner.
