Role Overview
We're seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Intern/Associate to help build and fine-tune AI models that analyse the intersection of political events and financial markets. You'll work on developing systems that can identify correlations between political actions and market movements and event prediction.
What You'll Do
- Fine-tune large language models using Claude AI API for political and financial text analysis
- Develop algorithms to analyze federal contracts and congressional trading disclosures
- Build correlation models between political events and stock price movements
- Create data pipelines for processing government data sources (SEC filings, congressional disclosures)
- Implement sentiment analysis and event extraction from political news and documents
- Design and test predictive models for political event impact on markets
- Work with time series financial data and statistical correlation analysis
Required Qualifications
- Strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
- Hands-on machine learning experience with transformer models and fine-tuning techniques
- Python proficiency including pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, transformers (Hugging Face)
- API integration experience - preferably with language model APIs
- Statistical analysis skills - understanding of correlation, regression, and time series analysis
- Financial data familiarity - basic understanding of stock markets, trading data structures
- Data engineering capabilities - experience cleaning, structuring, and processing large datasets
- Self-directed learning ability - comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial sentiment analysis or political data analysis
- Knowledge of government data sources and formats
- Background in quantitative finance or econometrics
- Experience with prediction markets or event-driven strategies
- Previous internships in fintech, trading, or political research
- Familiarity with web scraping and API data collection
