
Youth Ministry Intern
SUMMARY:
Our client, The Church Next Door in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a motivated and ministry-minded Youth Ministry Intern to support our middle and high school ministry 10-15 hours/week. This is a hands-on, part-time internship ideal for a college student with a heart for youth and a desire to grow and gain practical experience in youth ministry. The intern will work closely with the Student Ministry Assistant and the Next Generation Ministry Team to help students grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and experience authentic community.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Youth Ministry Intern plays a key role in enhancing the effectiveness of our student ministry. You'll help plan and execute engaging weekly gatherings, lead communications with students and parents, assist with volunteer coordination, and ensure an organized, welcoming environment. The role includes research, creativity, administrative work, and direct interaction with teens and their families. You'll be part of a vibrant team that's passionate about seeing the next generation thrive in their relationship with Jesus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications
- Research student ministry trends and share insights with the ministry team.
- Post engaging content on social media (Instagram, Facebook).
- Send weekly text and email updates to students and parents.
- Use our church database (CCB) to manage attendance, communications, and data.
- Reach out personally to students and parents to encourage involvement.
Weekly Gatherings & Events
- Help plan and prepare for weekly student meetings.
- Coordinate lessons, games, small groups, food, worship, and more.
- Keep gatherings spiritually meaningful, fun, and well-organized.
- Support planning of special events like "Teens Friday Nights," service projects, camps, and outings.
Building the Ministry
- Assist with recruiting, training, and encouraging volunteer leaders.
- Plan appreciation and team-building activities for leaders.
- Equip volunteers to disciple students and build strong relationships.
- Support parent engagement through communication and resources.
- Help design a quarterly teaching plan focused on biblical principles.
Other Expectations
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Participate in one weekly worship service.
- Serve at church-wide events and perform other duties as needed.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a personal testimony of transformation
- Passion for youth ministry and a heart for middle school students
- Currently enrolled college student, preferably pursuing ministry or a related field
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience or interest in working with volunteers and families
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, social media platforms, and open to learning church software (CCB)
- Lifestyle and character aligned with biblical standards for leadership (1 Tim. 3; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1)
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- A collaborative spirit and a love for team ministry
