Fall 2025 Communications Internship (Part-Time; Remote)

Justice Action Center seeks a Communications Intern to join our all-remote team for a fall internship in shaping narratives around immigration and defending immigrants’ rights.
About JAC
Justice Action Center (JAC) is a social justice organization that combines the power of storytelling with impact litigation to bring justice to immigrant communities. JAC’s work includes Supreme Court campaigns, including the successful campaign to defend the Biden administration’s decision to end the cruel Remain in Mexico policy; authorship of a Litigation Tracker website and newsletter to keep abreast of anti-immigrant lawsuits filed by red states; and active impact litigation throughout the country on behalf of immigrant communities. JAC currently consists of twelve staff, based in remote locations throughout the United States.
JAC is looking for a Communications Intern who is comfortable working remotely in a start-up environment and who can expand JAC’s capacity to experiment and tell stories of diverse immigrant communities across the country. This internship will provide firsthand experience in using storytelling, digital communications and community outreach in service of immigrant justice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leverage client stories to design dynamic social media content, including videos, and graphics, with assistance from the Communications Specialist
- Create content using JAC’s Immigration Litigation Tracker microsite to make litigation information even more accessible to wider audiences
- Conduct influencer research and assist in influencer outreach to widen JAC’s reach and expand our audiences
- Conduct audience research across JAC’s platforms to help better understand our audiences and distill how to better reach communities
- Assist the Narrative Research Specialist in recording stories and creating content from our story bank
- Committing to working collaboratively and respectfully, both with JAC colleagues in the legal and communications departments, and with co-counsel
- Engaging with clients and movement partners to develop and support directly impacted leaders in efforts to build a more inclusive society
Skills Needed/Qualifications:
- Graphic design skills (e.g. Canva and Adobe Photoshop) with a knack for distilling complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Videography and editing experience is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and social justice
- Communications and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, collaborative style and good listening skills
- Ability to think creatively, work independently, take initiative, and work in a start-up environment
Preferred Skills (not required):
Proficiency in a language other than English (e.g. Spanish, Haitian Kreyol)
Experience in litigation or immigration communications
Prior experience working on behalf of immigrants is a plus
Internship Logistics:
Location: Remote, must reside in the state of California
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours a week
Internship Duration: 10-week period beginning in September, with flexible start and end dates.
Compensation: Hourly rate of $16 or the state minimum wage of intern's residence if higher
