Support Counselor - County Wraparound

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic mental health professional to serve as a community-based Support Counselor, working directly with youth and families in their community.

 

As the Support Counselor, you’ll be a vital link in a multidisciplinary support network, helping young people and their caregivers navigate mental health challenges, access community resources, and build the skills needed for long-term stability and growth. Whether providing counseling in a family’s home, coordinating transportation to a court hearing, or stepping in during a crisis at school, your presence will make a meaningful difference.

 

ABOUT WRAPAROUND 

Seneca’s Wraparound program in Santa Clara County provides culturally-sensitive, highly-coordinated intensive services to youth and families with complex and enduring needs. Through a team and strengths-based approach, the mental health supports focus on enhancing safety, placement stability, and well-being. Wraparound works in close partnership with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Juvenile Probation, Behavioral Health and Post-Adoption services to provide outcome-oriented services aimed to keep youth in their homes and community. Wraparound serves racially and ethnically diverse youth and families regardless of, but not limited to, their socio-economic circumstance, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and religion.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide counseling and case management services to enrolled youth and families
  • Connect clients and families to community resources and natural supports
  • Offer crisis intervention and mental health services in various settings (home, school, community)
  • Participate in treatment reviews, staff meetings, and IEP meetings as needed
  • Complete mental health notes, service tracking, and required documentation
  • Assist with transportation arrangements for school, therapy, and court appointments
  • Provide on-call coverage to the program as scheduled
  • Participate in all program staff meetings, and other treatment meetings when necessary
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the Lead Clinician and/or Program Supervisor
  • Apply crisis communication and de-escalation techniques, including physical intervention if necessary, following Seneca’s training protocols

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

REQUIRED 

  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree OR
    • Associate degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
    • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
    • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evening hours as needed
  • Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

PREFERRED 

  • Bilingual Spanish or Vietnamese skill set
  • Experience providing strong behavioral interventions with youth in community-based setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, crisis response, and child/adolescent development

 

 SCHEDULE

  • Full-time
    • Sunday-Thursday 9am-5:30pm OR 
    • Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5:30pm
  • Flexible schedule required with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, or weekend hours as needed
