Project Management Engineer Supervisor III

The Work You Will Do:

Survey Crew Technician / District Five / District Design / Surveying and Mapping Office

 

This position will perform numerous tasks associated with field surveying activities.

Anticipated Pay:

$1,497.30/biweekly

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Assists with numerous tasks associated with field surveying activities including: establishing bench marks, spot evaluations, locating and/or staking points, parcels, and alignments.  Interprets maps, plats, and blueprints.  Assists in the collection of raw electronic field data.

 

Assists with the operation various surveying equipment including but not limited to prism poles, tripods, tribrachs, level rods, survey chains, measuring tapes, machetes, axes, shovels, and utility locators, while assisting the survey crew in performing various types of surveys in support of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway design and construction projects.

 

Assists the surveying crew in the maintenance of all surveying equipment.  This includes adjusting and cleaning level tri-bracket system, level rods, prism poles, and sharpening machetes and chain saw blades. 

 

Assists in maintaining/driving surveying vehicle and keeping vehicle equipped with surveying supplies and surveying equipment on a daily basis.

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 Knowledge of:

  • basic surveying mathematics
  • land surveying concepts, principles, and terminology

Skills in:

  • using copying equipment
  • effective oral and written communication
  • using survey equipment for field surveys

Ability to:

  • analyze deeds and maps
  • learn to use software applicable to the Departments Surveying & Mapping mission, possesses strong learning skills
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • follow Department policies and procedures
  • adapt to varying workloads and assignments
  • work in an outdoor environment performing complex and at times strenuous tasks
  • interpret state and federal policies and procedures

 

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must respond to emergencies. A valid Class “E” driver’s license is required. Obtains and maintains certification in Maintenance of Traffic – Intermediate Level.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma -or- its equivalent.

 

This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

  1. three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation;
  2. any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years;
  3. a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and
  4. a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.

 

Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
