Staff Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 Job Title:  Staff Accountant

Reporting To: Senior Director, Accounting

 Department:  Accounting

 Position:  Full-time/EXEMPT (Hybrid)

 

Purpose of Position

Responsible for providing accounting and payroll support for the organization. This position will also write custom reports for the Finance team using Interactive Report Writer in Intacct (accounting software).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Insperity (our PEO) to process bi-monthly salaried and hourly payroll 
  • Update payroll changes including onboarding/off-boarding employees in Insperity
  • Be the point person for all payroll related questions for the organization
  • Maintain personnel files
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as needed/appropriate, bank reconciliations, reporting and account analysis as part of month-end close
  • Prepare monthly leads for various asset and liabilities account
  • Create custom reports for team on a as needed basis in Custom Report Writer (Intacct) 
  • Serve as Accounts Payable backup processor as needed
  • Assist in pulling PBC items during financial and single audits
  • Respond to ad hoc organizational requests and/or special projects

Job Requirements /Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred 
  • 2-3 years of experience in an Accounting and/or Finance department with a comprehensive understanding of general ledger principles, strong familiarity with the month-end and year-end close process 
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards (FAS)
  • Experience in payroll processing is a plus 
  • Sage Intacct Certified is preferred
  • Experience with Sage Intacct software specifically Interactive Report Writer preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Windows Operating system, and Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with budgeting and fiscal management

 

Compensation

  • Commensurate with experience, education, and market – $68,700 – $72,500 per year; competitive benefits.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, records, and office machinery.  Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, and constantly positions self to maintain computers in the office, including under the desks.  The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers and customers who have inquiries about our business operations and the community we service; therefore, the person must be able to exchange accurate information. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
