Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer I will play a critical supporting role in the execution of RMS’s quality strategy across projects and supply chain activities. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent Mechanical or Industrial Engineering graduate who is excited to apply their analytical mindset, problem-solving abilities, and curiosity about real-world challenges in engineered equipment manufacturing and repair.

This role supports project execution, supplier quality initiatives, and product verification tasks, focusing on risk mitigation and compliance with requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Buyers to identify quality risks and implement mitigation plans during project kickoff and execution.
  • Support supplier qualification, source inspections, and incoming material verification activities.
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure alignment with internal procedures and customer requirements; monitor adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) related to nonconformances.
  • Help analyze quality data and metrics (from uniPoint, ERP, and Excel-based tools) to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement projects aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Actively engage in learning RMS systems, manufacturing processes, and technical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, or quality setting preferred.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills (Excel proficiency required; Power BI or database familiarity is a plus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to clearly present issues and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a passion for understanding how things work.
  • Ability to work across multiple departments and balance competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and basic inspection tools is a plus.

Additional Information:


- Travel may be required to RMS sites or supplier facilities (<10%).
- Exposure to rotating machinery, welding, and precision machining environments.
- Training in RMS systems (JobBoss, uniPoint, OST) and quality tools will be provided.
