Sales Manager
This position will join the Sales Team within the Raleigh Convention Center, which has the primary responsibility for prospecting and selling building space to generate revenue, hotel rooms, and economic impact. This team sells in tandem with other City partners, such as the Convention and Visitor's Bureau and the downtown hotels.
The Sales Manager manages all incoming emails and phone inquiries while ensuring they are promptly directed to the appropriate sales manager. You will work with City officials and handle all in-house/city events. The position leads proactive sales efforts geared toward business development, leading joint sales meetings with business and sales entity partners; and overseeing participation in trade shows. The position creates a budget for annual travel and customer engagement and outlines deliverables for marketing and communication plans to support their tradeshows, conferences and client engagement. Also, proactive prospecting plans annually by researching target markets and planning outreach via various communication channels is a key job duty.

The ideal candidate has proven their ability to develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with the business community and be able secure external funding sources to attract business, such as the Raleigh/Wake County Business Development, Fund (BDF), Hotel Rebates, or Sports Event Investment (SEIP) funding. The incumbent must be adept at prospecting and selling building space to generate revenue, hotel rooms, and significant economic impact.

Work Hours:
This position is expected to work Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm as well as some nights and weekends based on event schedules. This position occasionally has required travel as well.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages all incoming emails and phone inquiries while ensuring they are promptly directed to the appropriate sales manager
- Prepares event proposals including scheduling, space needs, pricing determination and special concessions
- Enters and maintains complete and accurate information in the software system
- Works with community service providers and prepares destination proposals for customer requests
- Coordinates and conducts site visits
- Manages contract processes related to pricing, contract language and deadlines
- Provides oversight of sales process and sales operations procedures
- Prospects for new business
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration and one year of related experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
