We are currently seeking an individual to fill the Accountant role within our International Offices and Mission Advancement.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Performs accounting and budgeting functions along with audit preparation in support of the International Treasurer & Director of Financial Services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions – reviewed by the International Treasurer or Director of Financial Services
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position
  • Performs all accounting functions and activities. Performs all data processing for accounting activities. Prepares quarterly financial reports.
  • Updates Excel spreadsheets for Investments and reconciles to the appropriate software program accounting monthly
  • Enters receipts into the accounting software during the month, with frequency depending on volume.
  • Prepares deposits receipts and updates running bank report.
  • Reconciles receipts detail to Batch deposits at month end
  • Prepares all billings to internal and external groups and updates excel files for invoices due and paid.
  • Checks vendor invoices for approval, enters invoices into the accounting software and receives approval of invoices to be paid before printing checks
  • Prepares checks and mails them after they are signed by the International Treasurer or Director of Financial Services
  • Disburses monies from the petty cash fund as requested by staff, with approved receipts for reimbursement.
  • Keeps all necessary payroll records for Generalate staff, as approved by the International Treasurer.
  • Reconciles bank statements by the given deadline and obtains approval from the International Treasurer or Director of Financial Services
  • Assists with preparation of audit schedules and requirements.
  • Counts daily cash proceeds from food sales and compare to P.O.S. system reports. Record daily credit card bank receipts and reconcile to P.O.S. system reports.
  • Files all supporting papers that pertain to the work done
  • Prepares supporting schedules and analysis of accounts to complete budget worksheets.
  • Arranges maintenance for company vehicle, emission testing, etc.
  • Assists International Treasurer and Director of Financial Services with preparation of financial reports for provinces/regions.
  • Prepares tax forms such as Federal and State returns and filing of 1099’s when required.
  • Handles all business office activities for special events:
  • Performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related field.

Experience and/or Training:

  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence.

Technology/Equipment

  • Proficient in accounting software systems, experience with Financial Edge or Raiser’s Edge a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software; strong Excel skills and knowledge.

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
