BACKGROUND
Are you an advanced master’s student in accounting at an accredited university, looking to apply your skills in a real-world setting? Petmate is looking for a summer intern to join our accounting team onsite at our corporate office in Arlington, TX. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and be part of a team that values both hard work and a great work environment. The internship program will be a paid, 10-week program beginning June 2025. Our interns can expect to work 40 hrs./wk. during the 10-week period and must provide their own housing and transportation.

Petmate/Doskocil Mfg., Inc was founded in 1960 as an innovative manufacturer and supplier of crates and kennels used by the airline industry to transport pets. SCOPE
Our summer program allows students to gain exposure and understanding of various careers in the manufacturing and distribution industry within accounting. Interns in this program will gain exposure to the following areas:
- Accounts Receivable: Invoicing, collections, claims, reconciliation and reporting
- Accounts Payable: Vendor set-up, invoicing, payments, reconciling payables
- Month end activities: Prep journal entries, reconcile accounts, variance analysis
- Fixed assets, CERs, review debt, pull data for AP/AR audit selection, cycle count audit observation
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate for this program is currently in their third year of pursuing a master’s degree in accounting at an accredited institution and has reached an advanced stage in their studies
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas (e.g., INDEX-MATCH, nested IF statements), and data validation
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong presentation skills
- Exhibits strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and research skills
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward self and others
- Interacts effectively with individuals and groups inside and outside the organization
